Tim and Lisa's Dream Come True Wedding

Tim and Lisa are a lovely couple from Fort Wayne, Indiana in the USA. When they met at college and fell in love, they knew they could not afford to spend the nearly $30,000 that is normally spent on an average wedding in America. In fact, they only had $2,000 that they could afford to devote to their wedding budget.

Not deterred, they set out to plan their dream wedding with a wedding budget of just $2,000.

The Book: Wedding Planning on a Budget

The ultimate wedding planner for the couple on a truly tight wedding budget does not ask you to give up on your dream wedding.

This wedding planner does not expect you to skimp on the reception dinner nor does it tell you that the best way to save money is to hold your wedding in your backyard on a Thursday night in October!

A recent review of Tim and Lisa's wedding planner points out that

"This book isn’t your typical budget wedding book. It doesn’t tell you to have your wedding in the off season or on a Friday night."

Another reviewer calls Wedding Planning on a Budget "one of the best wedding planning eBooks on the market."

Do It Yourself Or DIY Wedding

Make Your Own Wedding Invitations & Wedding Flowers
Why not do a DIY (do it yourself) invitations? This way will save you relatively on costs and its a bonus to personalized your invitations the way you want it to be for that special day. Start by digging out all those invitations to weddings you received over the years and check out what you like, what you don't like, and what, ultimately, your wedding invitation will look like. Of course, you may encounter hazards like not finding enough paper that you prefer, or your printer breaking down at odd times, so you'll have to be very patient if you opt to do the invitations to your nuptials on your own. Also by looking for cheaper wedding stationery items to be print-at-home stationery as there are many online stationer’s that will offer this service free of charge. You pay for the paper and envelopes, then use their software to print directly from your own PC. With sophisticated customization tools you'll be able to enter your own text and preview it before you print so as not to make any costly mistakes. Alternatively, you can buy software and do-it-yourself from your PC.
Buy wholesale flowers and be creative in choosing various types of flowers you want for displays or just plain and simple for wedding bouquets. Look at bridal magazines to give you the inspirations and styles. Some magazines and library books, plus other online tools about wedding flower arrangements can be very useful.

Be Creative With Unique Wedding Favors
Wedding favours will be more special, if simply you made them yourself and saves you considerable costs! Several ways is to buy candy by the bulk, or better yet, bake your own cookies. Then place small amounts in wedding favor packaging for a professional look at half the cost! Seal these with ribbons or pretty string. Pretty wedding favor packaging can make even DIY favors look smashing. Colorful wedding favors make a big impact, though so will sentimental ones. Print out tiny snippets from your favorite song or poem and stick them on a rectangle of hard, colored paper. Cut a hole at one end and loop a short piece of ribbon through it and you can give out romantic-themed bookmarks which your guests will use and reuse, maybe even when you celebrate your 30th wedding anniversary!

    Family & Friends Talents
By asking your family members and friends for help in where they can contribute thier talents to benefit you in anyway you can to reduce dramatically on your wedding costs and expenses where it is possible. For instance, if your mom is a seamstress, your sister bakes delicious cookies, your brother is in a band, your father directs cultural events and, oh, your aunt knows a good recipe for fondant icing.

Queue Songs Into Playlists in Your iPod
Choose songs that you and your groom suddenly sing to each other during car rides home, dance to, and all around just remind you of your relationship in general. Assign the maid of honor or best man to manage the sounds for the different events that will take place, and give him or her a list of songs required for what events - what to play while waiting for the guests to be seated, what to play during the wedding and bridal marches, what to play at the wedding reception, which song to reserve specially for your first dance, among others.

Have an Open Mic at the Reception
Rather than limit the speeches to your parents, the best man, and the maid of honor, why not hold open mic night for anyone who wants to say anything about and/or to the bride and groom. This may get rowdy when the wine's been flowing, but a lot of nice sentiments will come out and your guests will feel touched that you made an effort to include them in the ceremonies.

Open Mic Includes You and Your Groom-To-Be
Well, of course, you should get a chance to say your piece as well. You can talk about your new spouse, tell anecdotes about planning your wedding ceremony, what you look forward to as a married couple and, most importantly, thank your guests for sharing this special day with you.
